Grouping And Discussion

Grouping modules decide how participants are arranged before a discussion.

Common Pattern

Participants -> Grouping -> Discussion

or, after a first round:

Discussion -> Grouping -> Discussion

Grouping Modes

  • Random: assign participants without transcript signal.
  • Polar: use signal to create more difference in groups.
  • Anti-polar: use signal to reduce difference in groups.

Signal-based grouping works best after there is prior discussion or response data. A grouping module before the first discussion can still be random, but polar/anti-polar modes may not have enough information.

Room Size

Discussion modules can set room-size constraints. Community or template defaults can also define max participants per room.
