Core Concepts

Community Space

A community space is the main container for a group. It holds meetings, templates, members, public updates, and analysis over time.

Some internal paths still use the legacy word dataspace. New user-facing language should say community space.

Meeting

A meeting is a scheduled or instant conversation. It can include video, recording, live transcription, post-call transcription, AI agents, public summary review, and follow-up artifacts.

In-Person Meeting

An in-person meeting is a physical table or room workflow. Facilitators can capture table audio and recover transcripts after recording.

Template

A template is a reusable process design. It defines a chain of modules such as Participants, Grouping, Discussion, Prompt, Form, Recording, or In-person table.

Flow

A flow is an activated template or process instance. People participate in a flow at a specific time or under specific admission rules.

Public Update

A public update is a minimized reviewed publication. It should communicate what happened or what changed without exposing sensitive raw material.

Fediverse Actor

When enabled, a public community space can have an ActivityPub actor so people can follow updates from Mastodon-compatible servers.
